Damintha Gunasekera has been deeply interested in politics from a young age, shaped by Sri Lanka’s post-war challenges, dynastic politics, and long-standing governance failures that have constrained the country’s economic potential.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and a Master’s degree in International Affairs from The George Washington University, including an exchange at Sciences Po Paris.
His professional experience includes internships at the European Institute for Asian Studies in Brussels, the Embassy of Sri Lanka to the EU, the Deshpande Foundation in India , the Massachusetts State Legislature, and Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs .
He is co-founder of The Kolam Collective, a Colombo-based communications agency and since 2019, has worked as Senior Aide to a Member of Parliament.
