The Management Club of Sri Lanka, through its TMC Jaffna Initiative, has received the official endorsement of the Governor of the Northern Province for the Northern Exporters Forum 2027, scheduled for 20 and 21 January 2027 at the Jaffna Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre.
A TMC Jaffna delegation, led by its Chairman, Dr. S. Chandrakumar, met the Governor of the Northern Province, Hon. Nagalingam Vethanayahan, at 2.00 p.m. to brief him on the proposed forum and its development objectives. The delegation expressed its appreciation to the Governor and the provincial administration for supporting the economic initiative, which is intended to benefit the Northern Province.
The Northern Exporters Forum 2027 will be organised by TMC Sri Lanka as a TMC Jaffna Initiative and hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development. Regional facilitation will be provided through the Governor of the Northern Province, the Provincial Secretariat and the five District Secretariats. The Consulate General of India in Jaffna has been identified as a key collaborator.
Programme partners include the Export Development Board, the National Chamber of Exporters, NEDA and the Industrial Development Board.
The forum is expected to build on the momentum generated by the Northern Investment Summit 2026 and advance practical, export-led growth in the region. It will bring together exporters, entrepreneurs, investors, government institutions, development agencies, international buyers and members of the diaspora to strengthen market access, value addition, trade links and employment opportunities in the Northern Province.
Key areas of focus will include export readiness, global market intelligence, regulatory compliance, trade finance, logistics, cold-chain supply systems and business-to-business matchmaking. The event will also showcase regional export sectors, including agriculture, processed food, palmyrah products, fisheries, marine resources, ICT, wellness products, light industries, healthcare, tourism, heritage and cultural services.
By connecting Northern producers with local and international buyers, including networks in South India and the global diaspora, the Northern Exporters Forum 2027 aims to position the Northern Province as a competitive and innovation-driven export hub. The forum is also expected to support small and medium enterprises, promote foreign-exchange generation and create broader employment opportunities across the region.
