Methlal is a senior copywriter and creative, journalist, media trainer, and journalism educator with over 25 years of experience spanning journalism, editorial leadership, media education, creative strategy, and digital content.
As a former Senior Editor at Roar Sinhala, he led large-scale publishing operations and multilingual content strategies, working at the intersection of editorial quality, audience engagement, and digital media innovation.
He is also deeply involved in journalism education and professional development. As a lecturer and media trainer at the Sri Lanka College of Journalism (SLCJ), and as the founder of the Distance Learning Centre for Practical Journalism, he designs and delivers practical, hands-on training for journalists, media professionals, and aspiring journalists.
Methlal is particularly interested in how AI, emerging technologies, and changing audience behaviours are reshaping journalism, storytelling, and creative work.
