India’s 75 th Republic Day celebration was held with Pomp and Pageantry in New Delhi in an atmosphere of freezing cold in the morning last Sunday(27).
The colorful parade of the Indian Armed Forces had highlighted the country’s superpower strength in the land , sea and air at the Republic Day celebration with indicating that the country going in the direction of `sky is the limit’.

India, since the country gained independence in 1947 after a lengthy dominance by the British, has developed itself with the motto of `unity and integrity’. Despite its diversity in ethnicity, language and religion the country has established itself in a big way with becoming a super power in Asia. The uniqueness of India is that no other country in the world has so much of ethnicities, languages, religions and even the landscapes from beaches to deserts, mountains to forests and rivers to lakes.

In recent years India has even carried out space explorations and in a few years, the country even planning to land its astronauts in the Moon. India’s medical sector is vast and equipped with state of the art facilities. Indian doctors even reputed as best medical practitioners in the world. Even in stabilising peace in the world India pioneered the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) and the movement’s sixth summit was held in Sri Lanka with the support of India.

When the natural disasters such as flash floods and tsunami devastated Sri Lanka in December 2004, India extended its help in a big way to help the Island nation Politically to solve the ethnic issue in the North and East, India had signed the Indo Lanka Accord and helped in Sri Lanka introducing the 13th Amendment to its Constitution. So when India gained its Independence, Sri Lanka being a small country under the British thrived economically and the Island nation was far better
than even other countries ruled by British in Asia.

However the unresolved political issues and economic agendas without farsightedness , ethnic rivalries have made Sri Lanka heading from a prosperous country to a country committing so many blunders as far as its economy , politics and communal harmony are concerned. Therefore India completing its diamond jubilee (75) remains exemplary to Sri Lanka to follow India’s pathway in maintaining unity and integrity with stabilizing the economy.

End of the civil war in 2009 in Sri Lanka has opened
numerous avenues to the country both locally as
well as internationally to glorify itself in the socio-
economic and in the political environs.

So India’s Diamond jubilee Republic Day, this year is not only a mega celebration of glorifying its identity. But an event to be reckoned with by other nations in South Asia, particularly Sri Lanka, which has all resources including the literacy in abundance.

President of India Droaupadi Murmu even hails from a tiniest tribal community in India, her message on India’s 75 th Republic Day highlights how India is integrated in every way. On the other hand Droapadi Murmu’s status as the supreme position in India even indicates that how a smallest ethnic group is respected in India. Indian President Droupadi Murmu’s Republic Day message is as follows : “ There has also been a fresh engagement with our civilisational heritage. The ongoing Mahakumbah Mela festival can be seen as an expression of the richness of that heritage. An exciting array of initiatives is underway in the domain of culture to preserve and revitalise our traditions and customs.

India is a hub of great linguistic diversity. In order to conserve as well as celebrate this richness, the Government has recognised Assamese, Bengali, Marathi, Pali and Prakrit as classical languages. This category already includes Tamil, Sanskrit, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Odia. The Government is proactively promoting research in 11 classical languages now.

I look forward to the completion of India’s first Archaeological Experiential Museum in Vadnagar of Gujarat, being developed next to an excavation site that shows evidence of human settlement from around 800 BCE. The museum will bring together in one place a wide range of arts, crafts and cultural elements from different eras.”
