Jeevan Thiagarajah is a civil servant, human rights and social activist. He served as the Governor of the Northern Province between 2021 and 2023.
Jeevan has been active in the NGO sector in Sri Lanka since 1984, having served as the Chairman of the Institute for Human Rights, the Executive Director of the Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies, and a Member of the Election Commission of Sri Lanka.
Since 2015 Jeevan has been Chairman, Centre for Humanitarian Affairs (CHA), promoting research, advocating for marginalised and underprivileged groups, and exploring sustainable options for non-profit humanitarian intervention.
Jeevan obtained a M.A. (South Asian Studies), from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London,. He obtained a Certificate from the Summer School on Forced Migration, Refugee Studies Programme, University of Oxford and followed a Social Entrepreneurship Programme (INSEAD) Business School, Singapore.
