Shiranee Dissanayake is a senior journalist with a Master’s Degree in Journalism Studies from the University of Wales, Cardiff.
She started her career at the SLBC and rose to the post of English Newscaster/Reporter. After training in TV journalism by CIDA consultants Warner Troyer and Glenys Moss, she was appointed as a pioneer producer at the News Division of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation at its inception in February 1982.
In 1996, she left for Cardiff to read for her Master’s degree while holding the post of Acting Director, News at SLRC. On her return to Sri Lanka she started the Think Tank Consultancy Services, providing consultancy in media-based development projects.
Subsequently, she was appointed as the Head of Media at Distance Education for Public Servants Project (DEPS) of Worldview Global Media to produce educational software.
Shiranee was Managing Director of her own company the e-Drive (Pvt) Ltd. established in 2004. This was the first software development company to produce CD-based English Language educational software and provide training in computer-based learning (e-learning).
Most recently she was a Project Consultant at Gamani Corea Foundation.
